Kids Rock April, 2005
Thorsten van Elten
If you look at children’s toys / furniture from years ago they have a really nice quality and were built to last, therefore handed down from generation to generation. I think this should be a consideration when designing for children today, we also have a responsibility as designers to think about this instead of buying into the low cost, commercial throw away culture.
I wanted this rocking chair to be substantial and based upon pure form, which if scaled up for adults could easily be lost. The chair has an oak frame and coloured anti-bacterial rubber inlay.
Available in blue, yellow, pink and lime green.
Manufacture by Thorsten van Elten.
